This year's "Heart Project" is being launched at Hamburg Airport as part of the "Art at the Gate" initiative. The non-profit organization Viva con Agua presents a photo exhibition of the international campaign “WATER IS…”, which aims to raise awareness of the global importance of water. Travelers have the opportunity to participate in a free photo opportunity on July 3 to become part of the movement. The exhibition will be on display in the waiting area of Gates C2025 to C12 until the end of September 14.
Anke Redeker, a member of the artistic advisory board at Hamburg Airport, expressed her joy at being able to present the Viva con Agua exhibition, a project that creatively highlights the global importance of water. She emphasized that the "Art at the Gate" project is deeply committed to supporting Hamburg initiatives whose impact extends far beyond the airport. Michael Fritz, co-founder of Viva con Agua, explained that the exhibition aims to bring the vision of a world in which water is a human right into travelers' everyday lives. He emphasized the ability of art to move, touch, and connect.
The international campaign "WATER IS..." highlights the central importance of water as a basis for life and sets a creative example for global solidarity. The exhibition focuses on powerful black-and-white portraits of people holding signs to share their personal message on the topic of water. The campaign aims to portray water as something powerful, vital, and unifying, and invites people worldwide to stand up for the human right to clean drinking water.
As part of the exhibition opening on July 3, travelers and other interested parties can participate in a free photo shoot. This will create their own "WATER IS..." portrait to set a visible example for responsible water use. The "Art at the Gate" project at Hamburg Airport has existed since 2016 and primarily offers artists with a connection to Hamburg the opportunity to present their work to a broad audience. Up to four different exhibitions are shown in the waiting area each year.
