Around 58.000 passengers on Holy Weekend alone: Austrian Airlines recorded a major travel peak at Easter after a pandemic of more than two years.

Classic hot water destinations in Cyprus, Sicily and Spain are particularly popular, as are city trips to London, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Nice and Barcelona. For the Easter holidays alone, Austrian Airlines has reported a massive increase in bookings of up to 380 percent compared to the same period last year. With 690.000 new bookings in the last two weeks of March, it is also evident that, compared to 2021, more long-term bookings are being made again. The booking curve for the upcoming summer months would rise steeply.

The Lufthansa subsidiary is reacting to this positive development in travel behavior and is now not only on the road with the entire fleet strength, but also offers a 20 percent larger offer to European holiday destinations in summer than before the Corona pandemic. The Red-White-Red Airline flies up to three times a day from Vienna to Palma de Mallorca. Connections to Valencia, Kavala and Samos will be added at the beginning of summer. “After more than two years, there is a massive backlog demand. The upward trend proves that Austrian convinces with an attractive offer and genuine Austrian hospitality on board,” says Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl.
