From Wednesday, November 11, 2020, the opening times in retail in Austria will be limited. An ordinance has now stipulated that curfew is at 19:00 p.m. However, there are exceptions for travelers at airports and train stations. In these places the shops are allowed to stay open longer.

However, passengers at Austria's airports also have to be prepared for the fact that one or the other business voluntarily operates shorter opening times due to a lack of demand or is completely closed. At some federal state airports, all shops and restaurants are currently temporarily closed due to a lack of scheduled flights.

The new government regulation only affects trade. The catering industry is still only allowed to offer take away food and drinks. This also applies expressly to airport lounges, including Austrian Airlines when leaving the exclusive waiting area S.nacks and drinks. Nothing may be consumed in the lounges and a mask is required - even at the table.
