Passenger aircraft that have taken off in a total of 18 countries are currently not allowed to land in Austria. This will end on August 1, 2020, midnight. The government informed the airlines and pilots of the impending lifting of the landing ban by means of NOTAM A0 / 00.

As of Saturday, passenger flights from Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, People's Republic of China, Egypt, Iran, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Sweden, Ukraine and the United Kingdom are allowed again.

The re-admission of incoming flights does not change the entry regulations, which were recently tightened drastically for a total of 32 countries. The United Kingdom is excluded from this because it is now on the so-called “green list”. The result is that quarantine is no longer necessary.

Without submitting a negative COVID-19 test and without quarantine, it is currently possible to enter Austria from the following countries: Andorra, Belgium, Croatia, South Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Manaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and Vatican. This applies to all EU / EEA citizens, Swiss and Liechtenstein citizens, Austrian citizens as well.

Residents of Austria From outside the Schengen area, third-country nationals are currently only allowed to enter with a special permit. Furthermore, they must also present a negative PCR test when entering from countries that are on the "green list", which must not be older than three days. In addition, a ten-day quarantine must then be entered into in Austria. However, this is not necessary for citizens of the countries mentioned in the previous paragraph.

Residents of Austria, the EU / EEA countries as well as Switzerland and Liechtenstein must present a negative Corona-PCR test, which must not be older than three days, when entering Austria, provided this is from the following countries. In addition, a ten-day quarantine must be started. If the test cannot be presented, it can be done within 48 hours or directly at the airport at your own expense. However, a negative result does not end the quarantine.

The following countries are affected: Albania, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kosovo, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Pakistan, People's Republic of China ( Hubei Province only), Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Senegal, Serbia, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine and United States of America. Nationals of these countries, with the exception of EU members, are generally only permitted to enter Austria with a special permit, which can be obtained from the embassies and consulates.
