8.000m² building warehouse by charter from Linz to Shanghai

The Vorarlberg company Getzner Werkstoffe from Bürs is currently carrying out the largest single order in the company's history for an elastic building bearing in the greater Beijing area. But that's not all, because in order to be able to deliver the vibration protection for the building on time, an extremely large air freight shipment was required at the beginning of March: The transport of the 8.000 m² of fifty millimeter thick polyurethane panels is the largest air freight order in Getzner's company history. Getzner's vibration protection for the Gulou multifunctional building in the greater Beijing area is the largest single order in the company's history: A total of 21.500 m² of building area is to be protected from vibrations and shocks. Specifically, 19.000 m² of floor area and 2.500 m² of wall area are to be elastically mounted. Partial quantities were unexpectedly needed weeks earlier. This was also due, among other things, to the fact that the construction work continued uncharacteristically even during the "Chinese New Year". In order to get the vibration-isolating building supports to the construction site on time, Getzner had to send parts of the goods by charter flight. The remaining partial deliveries were made by rail and scheduled aircraft. Linz Airport was once again able to demonstrate its outstanding expertise in handling air freight flights (Photo: Michael David) "Other, more cost-effective means of transport such as ships and trains are currently in short supply and therefore not available at short notice. On the other hand, we were able to organize air transport via Linz quickly. The charter flight with our 50 mm thick, elastic polyurethane panels was handled extremely efficiently thanks to the expertise of Cargomind (Austria) GmbH at Linz Airport. The company, which specializes in air freight, has already proven its competence as a reliable partner in the past," explains Thomas Dorfner, Regional Sales Director Asia Pacific at Getzner. "For us

Vogler Air Base is being modernized

As Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner announced during a visit to Vogler Air Base, major investments will be made in the next few years to modernize the Hörsching site. After the Saab 105Ö was decommissioned, it became imperative to develop Hörsching as a second pillar for the remaining air defense alongside the Eurofighter base in Zeltweg. According to the Upper Austrian military commander, Brigadier Dieter Muhr, several million euros will be spent on renovating the apron and a hangar in the military part of the Linz airport area. Although the Eurofighters will probably continue to be stationed in Zeltweg in Styria, operations from Hörsching could also be ensured in the future as part of tactical measures or in the event of any emergency situations. Additional investments will be made in measures to ensure that the site can be operated independently in the future.

Does Hercules succeed Hercules?

Personal - Gábor Németh, master of the 3D airplane images

In the second edition of the new AviationDirect series “Personal”, in which we will be profiling interesting people from the aviation scene, we are devoting ourselves to Németh Gabor, plane spotter at Vienna Airport and master of the 3-plane pictures. AviationDirect: Gábor, you are already well known in Vienna as a passionate plane spotter, but you originally come from Hungary. Can I ask how you got into this hobby and what brought you to Austria? I was born in Budapest and moved to Vienna with my family in 2012 because I found a job here. Before that, my brother was a racing driver for 20 years and I took photos at the races. When he ended his racing career, I also moved away from motorsport a bit, so I continued to look for a photo subject here in Austria that was “fast”, “colorful” and “loud”. On one trip we passed Vienna Airport and a plane landed directly over our heads. That was when I decided to photograph airplanes. In Hungary I couldn't find time for it, so I had to try it here. I was at the fence three times in three days and then it became my hobby. One of the highlights so far for Németh Gábor, the Tupolev Tu-154M AviationDirect: Vienna Airport has already shared your pictures on its social media pages several times. I assume a great honor for you? This is not only an honor that I am very happy about, but also positive feedback that it was worth going in this direction. As a result,

Volga-Dnepr leaves all An-124s on the ground for the time being

Vaccine transport becomes a challenge for air freight

In person - Benjamin Radner, the 757 maniac

AviationDirect is now launching the "Personal" series, in which we will be profiling interesting people from the aviation scene. We'll start with young spotter Benjamin Radner from Innsbruck, who has a particular fondness for a special aircraft: the Boeing 757, which many people call the "beauty of the skies". AviationDirect: Benjamin, at 17 you're actually still a very young spotter, but you've been pursuing aviation as a hobby for a long time. Can you tell us how you got into it? I started flying before my first birthday. I wasn't even a year old when my father, mother and I walked around Innsbruck Airport for the first time. I was already watching the planes from my pram. From Air2000 to Tyrolean, there was a lot going on back then! The most formative moment was in January 2004. I had been standing on my own two feet for a few days, back then still on the old embankment at the end of runway 08. My dad filmed me with his video camera and I waved to a First Choice Boeing 757. On the video you can see how the English pilot waved back. A highlight that still has an impact on me today. The airport festival was on the program every year. I was given airplane models as a gift at a young age. Benjamin Radner's greatest passion is and remains the Boeing 757 (Photo: private, zVg) AviationDirect: Many people know you, of course, because you have a particular soft spot for the Boeing 757 and even run your own blog about it. What fascinates you so much about this particular aircraft? In Innsbruck,

Rada Airlines strengthens itself with a second Il-62

This news probably fulfills the dreams of many spotters: the Belarusian cargo airline Rada Airlines, well known in the circles of true aviation fans for the unique operation of an Ilyushin Il-62, reactivates another example of the legendary aircraft type of Russian production with its four Solovjov engines. An Il-62 that last flew for the Kyrgyz Manas Air Cargo, but has been parked at Kazan airport for the past three years, will shortly join its sister in Belarus as the EW-505TR. With this rather unusual decision, Rada Airlines is now itself reacting to the increased demand for cargo flights. Like the one-sided Ilyushin Il-2015, which has been in use since 62, the orders are often very unusual, ranging from humanitarian aid flights to some mysterious cargo flights for South American or African customers. Even an incident at Khartoum Airport in August 2018 could not stop Rada Airlines' Il-62; technicians from the airline and the Russian maintenance company KAPO repaired the machine that had been shot past the end of the runway in just a short time. As for the now legendary EW-450TR, aircraft enthusiasts and plane spotters all over Europe should now post appropriate alerts in their real-time online services for aircraft display for the second Il-62 from Rada Airlines.

Budweis Airport wants to continue to take off despite criticism

Due to the coronavirus crisis, airports across Europe are now in overdrive, some are already facing massive liquidity problems, but the airport project in the Czech region of South Bohemia is still being pursued. The development process, which will allow the first international flights to be carried out in the foreseeable future, is accompanied by a much-criticized and complicated certification process for the necessary air traffic control procedures, and an important partner, the city of Budweis, has already left the project. "The sale of the city of Budweis's share is a profit," says Viktor Lavička, deputy mayor of Budweis, in no uncertain terms: "It is the only way to get out of this million-dollar hole." As Czech media report, the valuation of the city's airport shares prior to tough negotiations resulted in a value of between 1,2 and 1,5 million euros. "Since there is still no start of operations in sight, the actual market value of the airport can only be valued at zero. We also have to think about the future and can no longer finance such an airport project,” says Lavička, explaining the final agreement to sell the shares at a book value of less than 250.000 euros. After the European Union had already withdrawn a funding commitment of 2012 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the airport expansion in 15, the previous project operators, the city of České Budějovice and the South Bohemia region, had to drastically reduce the planned investment sum of around 40 million euros. Nevertheless, despite critical voices from the trade and business sector in South Bohemia, the ambitious project, which is similar to those in Maribor or Kassel-Calden, was pushed forward. Overall, the city of České Budějovice is likely to have
