Avia Solutions Group (ASG), Europe's leading provider of so-called ACMI services (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance), has taken a significant step towards sustainable growth with an order for 80 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The order includes 40 firm Boeing 737-8 aircraft and 40 options, ensuring flexibility for future expansion. With this investment, the first direct order from Boeing, the company is strengthening its strategic position and underlining its ambition to significantly expand its capacity on a global level.

This decision comes at a time of increased demand for additional flight capacity, driven primarily by seasonal holiday travel as well as increasing demands for fuel efficiency and operational flexibility. The Boeing 737 MAX series is considered one of the most fuel-efficient options on the market and is valued in the aviation industry for its low operating costs and environmental friendliness. The new aircraft are expected to gradually complement ASG's fleet from 2030 and further consolidate its presence in the flexible flight services market.

A strategic step in the ACMI market

The ACMI market has grown in importance in recent years due to the changing dynamics of aviation. ACMI providers such as Avia Solutions Group enable airlines to increase capacity at short notice without having to invest in new aircraft themselves. This is particularly relevant during peak travel periods when the need for additional aircraft and crew is at its highest.

As the market leader in this segment, ASG now operates 220 aircraft and holds 11 Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) in various countries around the world. This allows the company to respond flexibly and globally to demand. ASG's extensive portfolio includes well-known brands such as Avion Express, SmartLynx Airlines, KlasJet, AirExplore and BBN. This diversification and the large number of AOCs create a broad basis for ASG's global growth and customer loyalty.

The market for flight capacity is growing

Since the end of travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for air travel, especially in the leisure and tourism sectors, has increased sharply. This has led to airlines increasingly turning to ACMI services to cope with temporarily increasing passenger numbers. The flexibility and efficiency of such services are becoming increasingly important given the continuous need for rapid adaptability in air transport. Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of ASG, said that the order for the Boeing aircraft represents a significant step to expand the company's capacity seasonally and efficiently in line with customer needs.

Boeing 737 MAX as a sustainable option

The choice of the Boeing 737 MAX reflects ASG's focus on fuel-efficient and low-emission aircraft. The B737-8 MAX is known for its energy efficiency, consuming around 14% less fuel compared to older models. This allows airlines to reduce operating costs and offer more environmentally friendly options, which is significant in an industry with increasing environmental awareness and stricter regulations to reduce emissions.

The Boeing 737 MAX has regained confidence after the technical problems and resulting flight bans in 2019 and 2020. Through extensive technical revisions and rigorous safety tests, Boeing was able to successfully re-establish the model on the market and demand for the 737 MAX has increased sharply. For ASG, the order for the B737 MAX means a modern, reliable and environmentally friendly addition to its fleet.

Outlook for the future

With the planned delivery of the first B737-8 MAX from 2030, the Avia Solutions Group is showing that it is thinking long-term and focusing on a sustainable growth strategy. The company intends to use this expansion of its fleet to further expand its position in the global ACMI market. Ziemelis sees the new order as a "proud moment" and an expression of the "committed approach to capacity expansion" to meet the seasonal requirements of ASG customers.

The new Boeing order not only signals the growth ambitions of the Avia Solutions Group, but also the growing importance of ACMI services as a flexible solution for the aviation industry. For Boeing, the order means a consolidation of the market position of the 737 MAX and a confirmation of the demand for modern, energy-efficient aircraft.
