Irish aircraft leasing giant Avolon has announced that it will take over smaller competitor Castlelake Aviation Limited.

The transaction includes assets valued at around five billion US dollars (4,5 billion euros), including 118 aircraft. Avolon, the world's second-largest aircraft lessor, expects the acquisition to accelerate profit growth and plans to expand its fleet to over 1000 aircraft. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2024.
