The Berlin CDU has presented a proposal to end the chaos around BER Airport. The operation of the airport is to be put out to tender and handed over to an external operator. Today's Flughafen Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH will then only take care of the lease income.

The Berlin opposition party also wants the operation and further extensions to be tendered separately. In theory, this would mean that Fraport, for example, could apply to operate BER. In practice, however, this is extremely unlikely, because the Berlin city government has hardly ever implemented proposals by the opposition in connection with Berlin-Brandenburg Airport.
