The Romanian low-cost airline Blue Air wants to focus more on hot water routes in the 2022 summer flight schedule from Bucharest, Cluj and Iaşi. The focus is on destinations in Croatia, Greece and Spain.
"In the last two years we have all been deprived of the freedom to fly and flying has only been affordable for a small group of people flying to a limited number of destinations," said Chief Commercial Officer Krassimir Tanev, formerly managing director of the defunct Level Europe was. "At Blue Air we believe the worst of the times are over and when we look at booking trends our customers expect the prohibitive restrictions to be lifted by April."
Blue Air plans to serve around 2022 routes in the summer of 115. For comparison: In the summer of 2019 there were 71 routes. The weekly seat offer is to be increased by around 72 percent. The company wants to achieve growth primarily with new additions of the Boeing 737 Max 8 type. There are currently five in the fleet, which consists of a total of 20 aircraft. Additional B737 Max 8s are expected to be adopted later this year.
From Bucharest, the destinations Zaragoza, Santorini, Thessaloniki, Tenerife South, Split, Skiathos, Seville, Porto, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Düsseldorf, Dubrovnik, Corfu, Chania, Bordeaux, Bilbao and Alicante are to be added over the course of the 2022 summer period. Most routes are to be served twice a week. Five rotations are planned to Düsseldorf and three weekly to Santorini.
From Iaşi, flights to Zakynthos, Paris-CDG, Mykonos, Heraklion and Barcelona are to be gradually introduced. All destinations mentioned are to be served twice a week. From the Cluj base, Blue Air plans to include the following destinations in June 2022: Zakynthos, Valencia, Rhodes, Malaga and Heraklion. It will go to Málaga once a week and the other places will each be served twice a week.
