Around 340.000 passengers used the airport last year for trips to and from Friedrichshafen.

The 339.550 passengers achieved correspond to an increase of 211.393 passengers and an increase of 165 percent compared to the previous year. That is 70 percent of the volume in relation to the pre-Corona year 2019, as the airport announced in a broadcast. Majorca and Antalya were the top holiday destinations in demand. The most important connection for business and leisure travelers is still the connection to the Lufthansa hub in Frankfurt, which is used by almost 20 percent of travelers. Holiday destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Heraklion and Rhodes as well as Antalya are on the flight schedule for the coming summer.

“In view of the fact that there was almost no travel in the first 3 ½ months of 2022 and that the airport was also affected in the summer by capacity bottlenecks at Frankfurt Airport and the resulting flight cancellations by Lufthansa, we are very pleased with the results achieved” , said Claus-Dieter Wehr, Managing Director of Friedrichshafen Airport. "In addition, the insolvency proceedings under self-administration were successfully completed in 2022 and the necessary investments in the infrastructure, including the implementation of energy-saving measures to achieve the climate targets, were made".

Despite a continuing challenging environment, combined with cost increases and restrained travel demand by consumers, Friedrichshafen Airport is successfully on the way to the restructuring plan that has been embarked on, Wehr continued
