The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air is reducing its presence at Sarajevo Airport. A base is maintained on site. At least during the 2022/23 winter timetable, the connections to Malmö, Gothenburg, Charleroi, Sandefjord, Paris-Beauvais and Treviso will not be served. The sale has been discontinued.

Depending on the destination, the provisional last flight will be between October 7th and October 28th, 2022. According to the current information, Wizz Air will pause the connection to Saarbrücken in Germany from the beginning of December 2022 until probably mid-January 2023. The low-cost airline did not explicitly justify the reduction in presence at the airport in the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina, but it is apparent that the carrier is making cuts and temporary suspensions in almost the entire route network. For example, the British base Cardiff, operated by Wizz Air UK, will be put on a winter break in mid-September 2022.

At first glance, the destinations offered from Sarajevo seem to be still available. However, these are flights from/to Tuzla. In the first booking step, a small note is visible, which says that the plane will land in Tuzla. Low-cost airlines often use such sales measures. For example, you do not fly to Rome Ciampino Airport from Vienna-Schwechat. Nevertheless, tickets to the smaller of the two airports in the Italian capital can be selected. However, in the first booking step, Wizz Air indicates that the aircraft will take off or land in Fiumicino.
