Central German airports prepare for holiday rush

With the upcoming start of the holidays, the central German airports of Leipzig/Halle and Dresden are preparing for a busy travel season. A total of 81 passenger aircraft are scheduled to take off from these locations next weekend. In addition to flights to German and European cities, sunny destinations on the Mediterranean, Atlantic, Black Sea, and Red Sea are also on the agenda.

Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports start their winter holidays

With the start of the winter holidays in Saxony, a total of 77 passenger planes will take off from central German airports from Friday to Sunday - 45 from Leipzig/Halle Airport and 32 from Dresden Airport. The travel destinations include holiday resorts on the Mediterranean, in the Atlantic, on the Red Sea and in Scandinavia, as well as European and German metropolises.

Leipzig/Halle and Dresden Airports: Growth and Challenges

Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports recorded a total of 2024 passengers in 3.083.405, an increase of 1,7 percent compared to the previous year. While Leipzig/Halle Airport achieved growth of 4,7 percent to 2.200.981 passengers, the volume at Dresden Airport fell by 5,1 percent to 882.424 passengers.
