Union warns of flight chaos in Vienna

In light of fears of Europe-wide air traffic chaos this summer, the Vida union is now warning of significant problems at Vienna Airport. The union sees the ongoing shortage of air traffic controllers as the main cause, despite steadily increasing passenger volumes. Daniel Liebhart, head of the aviation department at Vida, is therefore calling for an intensified training program for air traffic controllers.

Customs seizes 78 kilograms of water pipe tobacco at Vienna Airport

During a routine security check in the transit area of ​​Vienna Airport, customs officials uncovered a major smuggling attempt. In the luggage of a 59-year-old Dutch citizen who was traveling from Cairo to Copenhagen via Vienna, they found a total of 78 kilograms of water pipe tobacco. The suspected smuggler had checked in three pieces of luggage, which, during the inspection, failed to meet the extensive requirements of the airport.

Operational disruption at OMV Schwechat refinery leads to high flare operation

An unexpected disruption occurred at the petrochemical plant at the OMV Schwechat refinery near Vienna on Tuesday morning. Frequentis records significant revenue and earnings growth in 2024

The Austrian technology group Frequentis achieved significant growth in revenue and earnings in the 2024 financial year. According to the company, revenue rose by 12,4 percent to €480,3 million. Vienna Airport establishes joint venture to optimize goods logistics
