Israeli Ministry of Tourism supports departure of tourists

Europe's airports compete for excellence: ACI Europe recognizes top performance and exceptional resilience

Easyjet stations new Airbus A321neo in Berlin and expands route network

EasyJet will strengthen its presence at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) with the stationing of two new Airbus A321neo aircraft. This measure, which will take effect with the 2025/2026 winter flight schedule, aims to provide more capacity, particularly for flights to popular sunny destinations. The first A321neo is scheduled to enter service on October 26, with the second following on January 1, 2026. The A321neo models, known for their increased capacity and cost-effectiveness, will enable EasyJet to expand its offerings on busy routes. Stephan Erler, Country Manager of EasyJet, emphasized that these modern aircraft "not only offer more seating capacity, but are also significantly more fuel-efficient and noise-efficient." This will enable the airline to reduce its operating costs despite the local site costs, while offering customers greater comfort and a wider choice of destinations. A total of more than 36.000 additional seats will be available in the upcoming winter flight schedule. EasyJet plans to use the new aircraft more intensively for winter sun destinations such as Lanzarote, Tenerife, Las Palmas, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Funchal, Agadir, and Marsa Alam. In addition to holiday routes, the new aircraft will also be used for connections to major cities such as Geneva, Zurich, London Gatwick, Rome, and Paris Charles de Gaulle. A further expansion of the route network from Berlin is the new connection to London Southend, which will operate twice a week, Mondays and Fridays, from November 7. This brings EasyJet's flight schedule from Berlin to a total of three airports in London. Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of Berlin Brandenburg Airport, welcomed the new connection as a positive signal for the expansion of the route network. EasyJet is also expanding its Munich location.

Franconia Air Service launches new flight connection Nuremberg-Zurich

Franconia Air Service has announced a new direct connection between Nuremberg and Zurich. Starting July 1 of this year, the airline will operate the route five times a week, Monday to Friday. This new route is intended to strengthen business and travel relations between Franconia and German-speaking Switzerland and offers travelers from both regions a more direct travel option. The launch of this connection underscores the importance of Nuremberg Airport as a regional transport hub and expands the range of services available to the economy and population of the northern Bavarian region. Previously, travelers between Nuremberg and Zurich often had to rely on connecting flights or use other means of transport. Franconia Air Service's direct flights now offer a time-efficient alternative, which should be particularly beneficial for business travelers. The city of Zurich is not only a major financial center in Europe but also a key hub for international air connections. For travelers from Nuremberg, the new route not only opens up access to Switzerland but also to an expanded network of onward flights. At the same time, travelers from Switzerland benefit from a direct connection to the Nuremberg metropolitan region with its industrial, cultural, and tourism offerings.

Corendon Airlines considers purchase of Airbus A321XLR and plans fleet growth

Corendon Airlines is considering acquiring Airbus A321 XLR aircraft in order to be able to rely on its own long-haul aircraft in the future. This was confirmed by company founder and CEO Yildiray Karaer in an interview with Airliners.de. The airline currently operates an Airbus A350 on a wet lease, but in the long term, the company is aiming for a fleet change and significant growth. Karaer specified the plans, stating that Airbus is currently preparing an offer for Corendon Dutch to switch its fleet to the A320 Neo family, one of which would be an A321 XLR. This is part of Corendon Airlines' broader fleet growth strategy, which envisions expanding the fleet from the current 35 to 60 aircraft over the next five years. However, Karaer noted that the current supply problems of the major aircraft manufacturers, namely Airbus and Boeing, must be overcome, as this is not an opportune time to expand the airline's fleet. Corendon Airlines' current fleet consists primarily of Boeing 737 family aircraft, including the 737 Max 8 and 9. If Corendon Dutch takes over the A320 Neo family aircraft, the 737 Max 9 aircraft registered there would be relocated to Malta. Wet leasing is also a fundamental component of the current fleet strategy. During the pandemic, Corendon had already sold and leased back its own 737 aircraft, and recently extended its wet lease agreement with World2Fly for an Airbus A350 for flights from Amsterdam to Curaçao for five years. Corendon Airlines also uses wet lease models for seasonal adjustments. In the South African winter, for example, Global’s European subsidiary, based in Lithuania, uses A320 aircraft for

Airbus announces higher dividend

At an investor event held during the Paris Air Show, European aerospace giant Airbus announced far-reaching strategic adjustments aimed at attracting shareholders with higher dividend payouts and increasing profitability across all business areas. In the future, up to half of the company's profit will be paid out to shareholders as dividends, a significant increase from the previous payout ratio. This news was received positively by the stock market, underscoring expectations of continued strong business development for the company. At the same time, CEO Guillaume Faury confirmed the ambitious targets for the current fiscal year, even though Airbus continues to struggle with supply bottlenecks in its largest division, civil aircraft construction. Higher dividend payouts: A signal to shareholders. Airbus, one of Europe's leading industrial groups and a key component of the German DAX stock index, has announced its intention to increase its shareholders' participation in the company's success in the future. The payout ratio is to be increased from the current 30 to 40 percent of net profit to 30 to 50 percent. For the 2024 financial year, the Group had already paid a dividend of three euros per share, one euro of which was a special dividend. This increase in the payout ratio is a clear signal to investors, who are increasingly placing value on attractive returns in the current market environment. Such measures can help strengthen investor confidence and support the share price in the long term. The stock market reaction was immediately positive: Airbus shares gained over three percent on Wednesday, making them the top performer in the DAX. Despite this gain, however, the price was still below its record high of over

Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is expanding its offerings for travelers in the upcoming 2025 summer flight schedule. According to a statement from Triwo Hahn Airport GmbH, additional flight destinations will be offered, which is intended to increase the airport's attractiveness for summer travelers. This will benefit the regional economy of the Hunsrück region by improving connections to international holiday destinations. Starting in June, there will be two new weekly flights to Rijeka in Croatia. Furthermore, established destinations that were already served in summer 2024 will be reinstated. These include the Croatian city of Zadar, Chania on Crete in Greece, and Alghero on Sardinia in Italy. Airbus secures major order from Vietjet at Paris Air Show

At this year's Paris Air Show, Airbus received a significant order from Vietnamese airline Vietjet on the second day of the show. On Tuesday, the two companies signed a preliminary agreement for the delivery of 100 A321neo aircraft. This order also includes an option for a further 50 aircraft, underscoring the potential for a substantial expansion of Vietjet's fleet. This latest success joins a series of major orders for Airbus that were already secured at the start of the show on Monday. Vietjet had only ordered 20 A330neo wide-body jets from the European aircraft manufacturer at the end of May this year, demonstrating the Vietnamese airline's ongoing expansion strategy and its confidence in Airbus products. The A321neo is a narrow-body aircraft known for its economical operations and short- and medium-haul capacity. While Airbus was able to record further successes at the air show, its American competitor Boeing remained quiet until lunchtime on Tuesday, reporting no new aircraft orders. This continued after an already uneventful Monday. The lack of new orders for Boeing comes at a time when the company had to cope with another setback after years of crisis: Last week, an Air India Boeing 787 crashed with 242 people on board, with only one passenger surviving and several others losing their lives on the ground. Such large orders at international air shows are crucial for aircraft manufacturers, as they not only fill order books but also reflect market confidence and the companies' competitive position. The continuous expansion of Vietjet's fleet

EgyptAir strengthens long-haul fleet with further A350-900 order

EgyptAir, the national carrier of Egypt, has reinforced its long-term growth strategy by increasing its order for Airbus A350-900 wide-body aircraft. The airline announced a firm order for six additional A350-900s, bringing its total commitment to this aircraft type to 16 units. This decision underscores EgyptAir's commitment to meeting growing demand for long-haul travel and realizing its ambitious network expansion plans over the next five years. The first deliveries of these modern long-haul aircraft are expected in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking an important step in the modernization of the fleet and further strengthening Egypt's position as a major aviation hub in the region. Continued Growth and Fleet Modernization The Egyptian airline had already placed its original order for ten A2023-350 aircraft with Airbus in 900. The increase to a total of 16 A350-900 aircraft underlines EgyptAir's confidence in the performance and cost-effectiveness of this modern wide-body aircraft. Chairman and Chief Executive Ahmed Adel stated: "Today's announcement reflects our commitment to integrating next-generation aircraft into our fleet. This will enable us to meet the growing demand for long-haul travel and support our network expansion plans over the next five years." The A350-900 is part of Airbus' A350 XWB (Xtra Wide-Body) family, which was designed for long-haul flights. It offers high fuel efficiency and range, which are crucial for airlines aiming for growth in international travel. With a capacity typically between 300 and 350 passengers, the A350-900 is ideally suited to

Air India inspects 787 fleet after crash – No technical defects found

A serious crash involving an Air India Boeing 787-8 shortly after takeoff prompted India's aviation authorities to conduct extensive investigations. The aircraft crashed into a hostel, killing 241 of its 242 passengers and dozens of people on the ground. Immediately following the incident, India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordered an urgent technical inspection of Air India's entire 33-aircraft 787 fleet. This comprehensive check covered critical systems such as the fuel, cabin air, and hydraulic systems, as well as the engine controls. The inspection was completed without any findings, according to the DGCA. The authority confirmed that "the aircraft and their associated maintenance systems complied with applicable safety standards." This finding is an important signal regarding the operational safety of the airline's remaining fleet. Meanwhile, the accident investigation is in full swing. According to media reports, investigators, presumably from the Indian Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), were able to successfully retrieve both flight recorders from the crashed 787-8 in the laboratory. The data obtained from the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder are currently being intensively analyzed. This analysis is crucial to determining the exact cause of the accident and fully clarifying the circumstances of the crash. The authorities are committed to thoroughly investigating all aspects of the tragic incident in order to create transparency and learn lessons for future aviation safety. The DGCA's swift and comprehensive technical review of the Air India fleet underscores India's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety, even in the midst of such a serious crisis.
