That is seven times more than in the Easter holidays in 2021 and 75 percent of the comparable period before the pandemic.

The peak day is expected to be Good Friday, April 15, with almost 29.000 travelers expected. The most popular travel destination is Turkey with over 120.000 passengers, followed by Spain with 100.000 and Italy with 42.000 passengers. “We are very happy that things are finally getting started again. The desire to travel can be clearly felt after two years of hardship. Passenger numbers have been rising sharply since the spring, and they will skyrocket again during the Easter holidays," explains airport boss Thilo Schmid.

With a view to the summer, the airport expects a further increase in traffic. "With 125 destinations from 25 airlines in 35 countries, our summer timetable has many exciting new or well-known destinations ready for every travel desire." In summer, an average of 980 flight movements are planned weekly - almost twice as many as in summer 2021 (555) and almost as many as before Corona 2019 (1033).

Condor returns to Cologne/Bonn

After a four-year break, Condor is returning to Cologne/Bonn. From May 14, Condor will fly daily to Palma de Mallorca, and from May 15 to Heraklion on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The airlines Air Serbia (always Thursdays and Saturdays to Niš) and SmartLynx Airlines (to Hurghada from April 13) are brand new in Cologne/Bonn this summer. New destinations in the summer timetable include Stockholm and Biarritz (Ryanair), Monastir (Nouvelair Tunisie) and Porto and Palma de Mallorca (EasyJet). Also new are cruise feeder flights for Tui Cruises, AIDA and MSC Cruises.
