The expansion of the photovoltaic systems at Cologne/Bonn Airport is progressing.

Over the next few months, the airport will gradually have so-called rooftop PV systems installed on a total of four cargo halls and administration buildings on campus, which have a total installed maximum output of around 2,6 megawatt peak (MWp). This could supply almost 600 single-family homes with electricity for a year, as reported by the airport in a broadcast. 2,5 million euros will be spent on this.

"The expansion of regenerative energy is an important step on the way to climate neutrality," says Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. "This brings us a step closer to our goal of being climate-neutral by 2045 at the latest."
