Lufthansa CityLine has ended the operation of long-haul Airbus A340-300 aircraft. The six machines were moved back to the AOC of the parent company, a company spokesman confirmed CH-Aviation.com.

In 2015 and 2016, a total of six four-jet engines were floated in with Lufthansa CityLine. Under the project name "Jump", these should be used in particular on tourist routes and with lower personnel costs. In the course of the "Ocean" preparations, CityLine is withdrawing from the long haul.

The first three A340-300s were returned to Lufthansa before the start of the Corona crisis. Now the remaining four-jet engines followed. However, it should also be pointed out that with the D-AIFA, a machine at Frankfurt am Main Airport was damaged due to a fire in June 2018. Equipment at the airport caught fire and the flames spread to the A340-300. Since the plane was parked, there were no injuries.

CH-Aviation.com reports, citing a Lufthansa spokesman, that with the D-AIFE, the last unit was returned to the parent company. The process was completed in the last days of July 2020.
