On Monday, February 28, 2022, the Verdi trade union is calling on the security staff at Cologne/Bonn Airport to walk out. As early as Sunday evening, the airlines canceled 39 departures and 17 arrivals that were planned for Monday.

In all probability, further flight cancellations will be added. In addition, delays are to be expected, which may extend beyond the strike period. A total of 126 passenger flights (64 departures and 62 arrivals) are scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, at Cologne Bonn Airport.

Passengers are asked to check with their airlines about the status of their flight. The airport asks passengers whose flights are taking place to arrive early and, if possible, to do without hand luggage or to give it up. Liquids must be packed in appropriate 1 liter transparent bags. You should also pay attention to the announcements in the terminal. Considerable waiting times at the passenger checkpoints are to be expected. The airport has set up a telephone hotline (02203-404000).

The passenger controls at Cologne Bonn Airport are a sovereign task of the Federal Police, which uses private security companies for this purpose. Personnel and goods control is the responsibility of the airport operator, who also commissions private security service providers to do this.
