Comeback: Easyjet reactivates Berlin-Cologne / Bonn

Advertising

In the aftermath of the Air Berlin bankruptcy, Easyjet took over many routes from Berlin Tegel. In order to be able to hold the slots, wetlease devices, for example from Smartlynx and WDL, were used back then. Now, from BER, there should be a comeback in domestic German traffic.

The corona pandemic meant that the flights operated by Easyjet Europe within Germany - with the exception of Berlin-Sylt - were suspended for an indefinite period. Previously, for example, Berlin (Tegel) -Stuttgart and Berlin (Tegel) -Köln / Bonn were on offer. At BER, apart from Sylt, they had not yet dared to fly within Germany again.

That should change on December 1, 2021, because then the Airbus jets of the orange low-cost airline will again fly up to twice between Berlin (BER) and Cologne / Bonn. At present, 12 rounds per week are planned. The carrier will be monitoring the demand very closely because it has not yet been decided whether the other domestic German routes, such as Berlin-Stuttgart, will be reactivated.
