The greatly reduced flight offer due to the corona pandemic has also left its mark on the financial figures of the airline caterer Do & Co. In the first half of the 2020/21 financial year, this division recorded a 78,2 percent decline in sales to EUR 78,81 million.

The EBITDA fell by 83,6 percent to 6,66 million euros. The EBIT is deep red at -15,05 million euros. Do & Co was only able to benefit from the fact that some airlines have started again to offer food on board and in their lounges in individual countries, "as the dissatisfaction of passengers, especially in the premium classes, was already very high".

Do & Co took over the catering for the long-haul flights of British Airways from Heathrow in mid-May 2020. Short-haul connections also followed on September 15, 2020. For this purpose, a 34.000 square meter large kitchen was opened in the United Kingdom.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has forced Do & Co to work on new business models and products in the Airline Catering division as well. In this context, a new “Premium Box” concept was developed with several airlines due to the COVID-19 pandemic in order to reduce the interaction between crew and passengers. The Do & Co product can thus be handed over contactlessly by the flight attendants to the passengers, ”the company said in a broadcast.
