DDSG Blue Donau, Austria's largest and most traditional shipping company, is expanding its service offerings in the Wachau region. A new sales office has been opened in the town of Melk, providing passengers with a central information point and faster service. At the same time, the boat station in Dürnstein, which was severely damaged by the floods in September 2024, was restored in time for the start of the season.
The rapid reopening of the pier in Dürnstein was made possible by close cooperation between the State of Lower Austria, the DDSG Blue Danube, and the Danube stations of Lower Austria. The shipping company supported the repair work, particularly with the anchoring of the approximately 20-ton pontoon. Thanks to this cooperation, the DDSG Blue Danube can already offer its full cruise program in the UNESCO World Heritage region of Wachau during the Easter holidays and the current apricot blossom season.
The Wachau is a popular travel destination, especially in spring. The MS Austria, MS Dürnstein, and MS Wachau are once again sailing several times a day from Melk and Krems. The new timetable allows passengers to explore the region and its villages at their own pace. From Krems, the ships depart daily at 10.15:11.00, 13.10:15.45, 11.00:13.50, and 14.35:16.25 p.m., and from Melk at 26:5, 2025:400.000, XNUMX:XNUMX, and XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. Tickets are already available online, and the summer timetable is valid from April XNUMX to October XNUMX, XNUMX. The DDSG Blue Danube looks back on a long history and carried over XNUMX passengers with its fleet last year.
