Debt: Software company prevents Montenegro restart

The government of Montenegro wanted the collapsed Montenegro Airlines to fly on the Podgorica-Belgrade route again from February 8, 2021. But nothing came of that, because due to debts amounting to over 100.000 euros with an IT provider, the EDP does not work as required.

Ex-Yu-Aviation reports that the former state carrier is in the chalk at SITA and as long as the liabilities are not paid, there are no services. Now the government wants Montenegro Airlines to take off again on February 20, 2021. However, this should only be a temporary solution, because with To Montenegro a successor company will be brought into being. Take-off and landing rights and slots are to be secured for these.

Due to the tight financial situation of Montenegro Airlines, the government may have to provide money because the former state carrier has not been able to pay the wages for several months. In Podgorica, however, it was decided against state aid and instead sent the state airline into liquidation and built a successor.
