Tarom plane detained in Amsterdam released after compensation payment

A plane belonging to the Romanian airline Tarom was recently temporarily detained at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport because the airline had not paid compensation to passengers. The reason for this is a lawsuit filed by a specialised debt collection company, which successfully took legal action against Tarom to demand these payments.

The plane was only released after Tarom management paid the outstanding amount to the Dutch debt collection company. The crew contacted management immediately after the detention, and the compensation was paid about 40 minutes later, allowing the plane to be released. The incident underscores the increasing pressure on airlines to pay legally binding passenger compensation promptly.
