The two-week Christmas holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia begin on December 23, shortly before the holidays.

Dortmund Airport expects around 110.000 passengers during this period. During these school holidays, passengers can fly from Dortmund to around 40 different destinations. These include popular metropolises such as London, Budapest and Rome – as well as Vienna and Porto. Due to the flight connections offered several times a week, these travel destinations are also well suited for short trips in addition to vacation trips, even at the turn of the year. Numerous travel destinations such as Wroclaw, Sibiu and Riga also impress with their Christmas markets, some of which are open until January.
