The management of Düsseldorf Airport received the green light for the proposed redevelopment concept at an extraordinary shareholders' meeting. This also provides for a reduction in personnel costs by at least 50 million euros.

The airport has not yet announced how many jobs are at risk. However, layoffs for operational reasons cannot be ruled out. For 2020 as a whole, Düsseldorf Airport expects a passenger volume that will be a maximum of 30 percent of the previous year's figure. Around 2021 percent are forecast for 50.

As part of the redevelopment concept, the shareholders Stadt Düsseldorf and Airport Partners GmbH are granting a subordinated loan in the amount of 100 million euros. The country has guaranteed a loan of 250 million euros. Furthermore, the shareholders will not withdraw the 2019 surplus - 63 million euros.
