A demonstration against the planned job cuts took place at Düsseldorf Airport on Monday morning. According to the current state of information, around 600 jobs are at risk. The Verdi union therefore called for a protest rally.

Düsseldorf currently employs around 2.400 people. Despite short-time working and financial aid, around 600 jobs are to be cut. Naturally, this does not meet with approval from the employee representatives. Compared to the West German Broadcasting Verdi declared that retirement pensions should also be at stake. It is also criticized that Düsseldorf Airport has been highly profitable in recent years and that this should also have been thanks to the workforce.

The demonstration was held at 9:00 a.m. in front of the airport administration building. Numerous banners were shown, although due to the current corona measures, according to Verdi, not all could participate. The board of directors of Düsseldorf Airport met at 10:00 a.m.
