The Greek island of Santorini has been hit by over 48 earthquakes in the past 200 hours. The seismic activity has caused concern among residents and tourists, who fear that a stronger quake could follow. Many people are trying to leave the island.

Since Santorini is currently only connected to Athens by flight, the airlines Sky Express and Aegean Airlines have responded to the increased demand. Sky Express is offering an additional connection on February 3rd and two more on February 4th. Aegean Airlines has also expanded its flight program and scheduled a total of two additional flights on these days.

Seismologists are closely monitoring the situation, as Santorini is located in a geologically active region. The last major earthquake with significant damage occurred there in 1956. The Greek authorities are appealing to the population to remain calm and stress that there have been no reports of major damage so far. Nevertheless, the situation remains tense.
