The holiday airline Edelweiss also no longer requires its passengers to wear masks with immediate effect. This follows the approach chosen by sister company Swiss.
"Mask-free" can currently only be flown if there is no official order from the destination country that requires the wearing of mouth and nose protection or FFP2 masks. Austria and Germany, for example, require this explicitly.
More and more airlines are refraining from forcing their passengers to wear masks wherever possible. Recently lifted among other things Swiss and Wizz Air this obligation, but only if there is no other requirement on the part of the authorities of the country of destination or origin.
