Elbe Flugzeugwerke was able to land a larger order: the company was commissioned to convert 29 Airbus A330s into cargo aircraft. The Air Transport Service Group intends to further expand the current fleet of 117 aircraft.

The work is to be carried out at various locations of Elbe Flugzeugwerke and at ST Engineering. Recently, passenger planes are increasingly being converted into freighters as global demand continues to be high. Conversions of the Airbus A321 are currently in particularly high demand. One of the reasons for this is that the competing model, the Boeing 757F, has become quite expensive on the used market due to high demand.
