Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has ordered three more Airbus A350 freighters (A350 F) to expand the capacity of its cargo subsidiary Etihad Cargo.
The order is based on options from a 2022 contract that already included seven A350 Fs. With the new delivery, the schedule of which is currently being agreed, Etihad aims to have a total cargo fleet of 15 specialised aircraft, including five Boeing 777Fs already in service.
The A350 F is one of the most modern freight aircraft and offers significant advantages in fuel efficiency and emission reduction. With a maximum payload of 109 tonnes, it is specially optimized for global freight markets. According to Airbus, more than 70% of the aircraft structure is made of advanced materials, which reduces take-off weight and reduces fuel consumption by up to 20%.
The expansion is part of Etihad's long-term strategy to secure growth in the cargo industry and increase operational efficiency, supported by new technologies such as Airbus Skywise Health Monitoring, which provides real-time data for maintenance, and Flight Hour Service (FHS), which enables optimised fleet maintenance.
