Golf carrier Etihad Airways will fly to Düsseldorf again from October 2023 and now to Copenhagen. The German city will initially be served three times a week and gradually increased if there is demand. Four times a week to Denmark.
Both routes are to be served by Boeing 787 long-haul aircraft. These have 262 seats in economy class and 28 seats in business class. “We are very pleased to fly to Denmark for the first time and to add a third city to our route network in Germany. With this we offer our guests more holiday options and easier access between Abu Dhabi and Europe. Our new flights launch in the winter season - the perfect time for guests to escape the cold and enjoy Abu Dhabi's beautiful beaches, world-class entertainment and rich cultural heritage - and also ideal for travelers wanting to experience Europe's unique winter appeal. With the expansion of our route network to 66 cities, there are even more places to visit to plan your next great adventure with Etihad Airways,” said Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer Antonoaldo Neves.
Etihad Airways already had Dusseldorf in its program in the past. Especially during the time when the company was involved in Air Berlin, which no longer exists, there were high-frequency connections between the Düsseldorf and Abu Dhabi hubs. The golf carrier in Germany is currently serving the cities of Frankfurt am Main and Munich, which are each served daily.
According to Etihad Airways, it has not had a Danish destination on its route network so far. That should change from October 1, 2023, because at the same time as Düsseldorf you want to fly to Copenhagen for the first time. Initially, four weekly rotations are planned, although the connection could be increased if there is sufficient demand.
For example, the Abu Dhabi-Vienna route was recorded at low frequency. In the meantime, this has been gradually increased by the golf carrier. Etihad Airways plans to do so later this year offer daily flights between the two capitals. You stand on this route in direct competition with the low-cost airline Wizz Air.
