The EU Commission is initiating an in-depth investigation into state aid worth around 3,2 billion euros for TAP Air Portugal. The emergency loan contained therein in the amount of 1,2 billion euros was again waved through. The court of the European Union had previously revoked the license.
As a result of a lawsuit by Ryanair, the 1,2 billion euro loan ended up before the General Court of the European Union. This overturned the approval of the EU Commission, as the approval was viewed as inadequate. Among other things, the impact on the internal market has not been adequately addressed. Now the competition authorities drafted a new reason.
The difference has not yet been released. For this purpose, an in-depth examination is initiated and competitors also have the opportunity to submit comments. To put it simply, one also wants to check whether it is a watering can or whether TAP is taking sufficient measures to deal with the crisis.
