Eurowings is finally discontinuing Mostar flights

The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings will finally discontinue the connection between Düsseldorf and Mostar, which has been paused for a long time due to the corona pandemic. The flights previously offered from Stuttgart to the city in Bosnia and Herzegovina are also affected.

Flight operations to/from Mostar have been suspended since the beginning of the corona pandemic. Eurowings initially wanted to reactivate this from June 30, 2022, but there seems to be a lack of booking figures. Mostar Airport loses the last remaining scheduled flights and claims that the pricing policy of the Lufthansa subsidiary is to blame for the failure. The tickets would simply have been sold at far too high a price.

According to local media, Eurowings has received grants from Bosnia-Herzegovina to operate the Mostar routes. However, nothing has been paid out for the current season. A comeback in Mostar cannot be ruled out in principle, but from today's perspective it is very unlikely.

Mostar Airport has seen an unprecedented departure of airlines since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. These justified their withdrawals with a lack of demand. However, this only applies to regular service. There's a lot going on in Charter again. For example, Lot will soon fly from Katowice to Mostar on behalf of a tour operator. Electra Airways will charter flights from Catania to Bosnia-Herzegovina's fifth largest city. Croatia Airlines from Palermo. However, most charter flights are only limited to September 2022, so that after that it will be quiet again.

Why can't you fly from Stuttgart to Mostar, that would really be the closest for all Medjugorie pilgrims.
