With effect from November 1, 2023, the German airline German Airways will have a new boss in the form of former Niki and current Tuifly Managing Director Oliver Lackmann. He will lead the carrier alongside Maren Wolters.

Lackmann was the last managing director in the history of the Austrian airline Niki, founded by Niki Lauda and later taken over by Air Berlin. Shortly after the start of the bankruptcy proceedings, it became known that he would switch to Tuifly. He is currently one of the managing directors of the German holiday airline as Chief Flight Operations.

“We are very pleased that Oliver Lackmann, a very experienced airline manager, is joining us. We are convinced that he is the right leader to shape the future of German Airways. He will help us to meet the growing demands of the aviation industry and to further strengthen our competitive position," says German Airways boss Maren Wolters.

The 54-year-old studied economics at the University of Essen and is a trained pilot. At Air Berlin he flew the aircraft types Boeing 737, Airbus A320 and Airbus A330. Oliver Lackman lives in Essen.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to be part of the German Airways team and to take the company to the next level together with my new colleagues. German Airways has already established itself as one of the most reliable airlines in Europe and I am confident that we can achieve further growth and success through innovative approaches, with a motivated team and with our excellent service,” said Lackmann.
