The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings will no longer have line maintenance in Düsseldorf and Hamburg carried out by its sister company Lufthansa-Technik. Third-party providers could provide these services more cheaply, reports the Airliners.de portal.

As of November 1, 2020, Lufthansa Technik Düsseldorf will no longer work on the Eurowings planes. The change will take place in Hamburg at the beginning of 2021. A spokesman for the company confirmed this airliners.de and said that the in-house maintenance company was unable to prevail over competitors as part of an award process. Eurowings will therefore rely on cheaper external service providers in the future. It is still completely unclear what effects this will have on the Lufthansa Technik locations in Düsseldorf and Hamburg. The crane offshoot is one of the largest customers in the line maintenance sector at both airports.
