The Austrian aviation supplier FACC AG was able to increase sales by 2023 percent to EUR 27,6 million in the first quarter of 162,7. The group speaks of a difficult environment, because the high inflation does not make life easier for the entire industry.

A relaxation in the international supply chains is expected for the full year 2023. As is usual in the industry, inflation-related cost increases are only passed on to the market with a time lag of up to one year. A higher demand for new aircraft is confirmed from today's perspective, which will lead to further rate increases for all major aircraft models. With the exception of China, passenger numbers on short and medium-haul flights (continental travel) have already returned to pre-pandemic levels. This growth trend will continue and passenger numbers are also increasing again in China after the relaxation of the strict COVID rules. Only international travel has not yet reached the pre-crisis level. The predictions of the FACC management (from 2020) that aviation will fully recover by the end of 2024 have been confirmed.

The focus is on further increasing sales in the core business and expanding production capacities. In the 2023 financial year, around EUR 34,8 million will be invested in the planned growth of FACC. This includes the tripling of the area of the FACC plant in Croatia, which went into operation in 2022. FACC is intensively researching technologies and materials that will make a significant contribution to the transformation of the aviation industry towards CO2-free aviation mobility. This includes in particular the establishment of a sustainable materials cycle economy; FACC lightweight construction and product solutions will thus make the aviation industry goal of CO2-free flying possible. The increase in personnel, which began in 2022 with the onboarding of around 400 additional colleagues, is continuing. Due to the very good demand, the workforce will be expanded by 14-400 employees throughout the company within the next 600 months. For the year as a whole, the management of FACC AG continues to expect an increase in sales in the high single-digit percentage range.
