The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings Discover will serve fewer routes in the 2022/23 winter timetable than originally announced. Numerous routes from both Frankfurt am Main and Munich have been taken out of the planning.
Both long-haul and short- and medium-haul connections are affected. For example, Eurowings Discover will not fly to Puerto Plata, Montego Bay, Hurghada, Barbados, Agadir and Marsa Alam in the 2022/23 winter timetable from Frankfurt am Main. Some of these are routes that are not served at least temporarily or are not even recorded.
The variety of destinations will also be reduced from Munich. The destinations affected by the red pen are Cancun, Agadir, Male, Marsa Alam and Punta Cana. Here, too, some of these are routes that will not be served in winter 2022/23, at least for the time being, or will not be included at all. Competitor Condor is also making adjustments to the 2022/23 winter flight schedule. For example, the destination Punta Cana from Dusseldorf and Munich is deleted.
From Frankfurt am Main, Eurowings Discover will take over Lufthansa's Vancouver and Toronto destinations. This will be served with Airbus A330. So far, Lufthansa has been flying to both destinations with Airbus A340s. Likewise, Lufthansa will operate short- and medium-haul routes from Frankfurt am Main Austrian Airlines Airbus A320 and take Eurowings Discover into the wet lease. The sister company Eurowings will fly with A319 for the mainline.
