Graz: Turkish Airlines will not reactivate Istanbul flights

The Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines will no longer operate passenger flights to Graz in the future. The offer is focused on Vienna and Salzburg. Freight planes will continue to serve Linz as well.

Before the corona pandemic, the non-stop connection between Graz and Istanbul was mostly well booked and business travelers in particular liked to use it for transfer connections. In general, the Turkish carrier is very popular with both private and business travelers due to the higher standard of service compared to Western European airlines. Accordingly, there was hope in Styria that the flight connection would be resumed.

Nothing will come of that, because, contrary to the original announcement, Turkish Airlines will not reactivate the Istanbul-Graz-Istanbul route with the 2022 summer flight schedule. The sale of flight tickets has already been discontinued. The company confirmed to Aviation.Direct that this route will be discontinued and that passengers with tickets will either be rebooked or receive a refund.

But one does not want to speak of a final and final setting yet. From Istanbul it is said that Graz is still being watched and that a later resumption is expressly reserved. But you don't yet have a time horizon for this. It therefore remains to be seen whether another Turkish carrier will fill the gap so that at least point-to-point traffic, for which there is considerable demand from Austria, can be served. Corendon, SunExpress and Pegasus do not want to comment on any Graz plans at the moment.
