Greece takes the initiative in matters of corona rapid tests in air traffic to facilitate entry and quarantine regulations. Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis convened a virtual "round table" for this purpose.
The politician presented various options for implementing antigen tests and emphasized that these must be the basis for European travel protocols in the future. If implemented, it would help the travel and transport industry massively. Theoharis does not expect a general recovery in the sector before 2022. The Greek minister has also announced that he wants to promote the issue at EU level.
It is necessary for the EU states to agree on such a procedure. Europe's airlines are exerting increasing pressure, but countries like Germany tend to be negative. They want to use the rapid test in old people's homes. Politicians there want to introduce compulsory quarantine for people entering from risk areas on November 8, 2020. The Robert Koch Institute has now declared almost all of Europe and large parts of Germany to be a risk area.
