In mid-March 2021, the charter marketer Green Airlines was presented as the new sponsor of SC Paderborn 07, which plays in the second Bundesliga. At that time there was talk of a sustainable, long-term and exclusive partnership. That’s over again.

In the meantime, the Bundesliga team removed both the perimeter advertising and the logo that was briefly seen under “Exclusive partners”. A spokesman for SC Paderborn 07 did not want to comment on the contractual details, but said: "For a more detailed explanation, I can inform you that the cooperation with Green Airlines was initially agreed until the end of the 2020/2021 season".

In other words: Green Airlines is out of SC Paderborn 07 and the announced environmental project should not have come off either. The participant in the second Bundesliga did not want to answer questions about whether and, if so, how much sponsorship money they had received. The spokesman simply said: "Please understand that we generally do not provide any information on contract details".

A long, sustainable exclusive partnership usually lasts longer than a few weeks. The Bundesliga season ended with matchday 34 on May 23, 2021. The cooperation was announced on March 18, 2021, so it was more of an “ultra-short haul flight” of 67 days. In the Bundesliga in particular, such short sponsorship partnerships are the exception, as the clubs are interested in long-term sources of funding. What exactly could have happened between Green Airlines and SC Paderborn 07 is not communicated publicly.
