The Chinese airline Hainan Airlines is celebrating its 15th anniversary in Berlin. At the same time, the frequencies on the Beijing route will be increased to four rotations per week. In the future, flights will be operated on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

In September 2008, Hainan first served this route. At that time, Berlin-Tegel Airport was still controlled and a codeshare agreement was maintained with Air Berlin. Due to the corona pandemic, the China flight connection was interrupted for some time. At BER, the route was reinstated in the airline's route network in August 2022 after the interruption caused by Corona.

In the 15 years since the service began, Hainan Airlines has operated nearly 4.500 flights, carried nearly 900.000 passengers and transported more than 56.000 tons of cargo. Berlin Airport Manager Aletta von Massenbach: "Congratulations to Hainan Airlines on the 15th anniversary of the connection between the German capital region and Beijing. The long-term success shows that the demand for long-haul tourism and business trips in the connected cultural and economic metropolises is permanently stable. The decision in favor of the route enables the city partnership between Berlin and Beijing to be filled with life through personal encounters.”

The flight time on the route is around nine hours from BER to Beijing and around ten hours in the opposite direction. Flights take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays (local time).
