Heavy travel traffic expected during the semester break

With the start of the semester break in Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Carinthia and Burgenland, ASFINAG expects heavy traffic on the most important travel routes to and from the ski areas between February 8 and 16, 2025. The A 10 Tauern motorway, the A 13 Brenner motorway and the A 9 Pyhrn motorway are particularly affected. Increased traffic is also expected on the A 12 Inntal motorway, the A 14 Rhine Valley motorway and the S 6 (Semmering) and S 16 (Arlberg) expressways.

The tunnel construction site on the A 10 remains a particular bottleneck, and is also burdened by traffic travelling to the Alpine Ski World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. In order to be able to better assess the traffic situation, ASFINAG recommends planning your route early using its app or website. To prevent traffic from avoiding traffic jams, exit closures at several exits on the A 10 in Salzburg are in force until the end of March.

In addition, an extended weekend driving ban for trucks is in effect in Tyrol on the A 15 Inntal motorway and the A 12 Brenner motorway until March 13. This is intended to improve traffic flow during the ski season. The driving ban for trucks over 7,5 tonnes comes into force on Saturdays between 7 a.m. and 15 p.m. and goes directly into the regular weekend driving ban.
