The regional airline Helvetic Airways officially opened its base at Basel Airport on Thursday. An Embraer E190-E1 and a brand-new E195-E2 are now stationed on site. The airport greeted the carrier with the usual water fountain.

Helvetic last stationed aircraft at EuroAirport in 2015. “With the stationing of two aircraft and 20 members of our flight crew, we are sending a strong signal to the region. We are convinced of the potential of EuroAirport for our flight operations ”, explained Tobias Pogorevc, the CEO of the Swiss carrier.

Basel Airport is naturally delighted to have another airline on the apron. Managing Director Matthias Suhr said: “We are pleased to be expanding the range of destinations from Basel-Mulhouse for this summer 2021 with attractive travel destinations and thus strengthening our role in securing the connection of our trinational region. With Helvetic Airways we have a 'full service' airline with a very environmentally friendly aircraft at the airport, which corresponds to EuroAirport's commitment to sustainable development ”.
