The International Airlines Group, which includes British Airways and Iberia, expects to make a profit of 2023 to 1,8 billion euros in 2,3.
In the previous year, sales increased by 170 percent to 23,1 billion euros. This is mainly due to the fact that after the travel restrictions were lifted, there was very strong demand. Most of the group members were also able to benefit financially from this.
The operating profit before special effects is reported at 1,2 billion euros. In 2021, around three billion euros were in the red. The profit in 2022 was around 402 million euros. This means that you are back in the black, because in 2021 you were deep in the red with minus three billion euros.
The International Airlines Group assumes that in the course of 2023 the flight offer can be increased to around 98 percent of the pre-crisis offer. It is currently assumed that this could already be achieved in the first quarter of this year. However, there is an element of uncertainty that at some airports capacity could be limited due to a lack of staff.
