Ice on the slopes: Dortmund temporarily closed

Advertising

The German Dortmund Airport had to temporarily suspend flight operations on Monday morning due to the weather. Initially, it was expected that the lock would last until 13 p.m. In the meantime, this has been extended until at least 00 p.m.

Incoming machines are diverted to Cologne / Bonn or Düsseldorf, among others. Aircraft that are on the ground in Dortmund have to wait for the duration of the ban. The background to the safety measure is that strong ice formation was detected on the only runway. The airport does not take any avoidable risk and decided to close it temporarily. The clearance work is currently in progress.
