Despite European Union sanctions against Russia, a German Bombardier Challenger has been spotted flying to Moscow. However, this flight cannot yet be justified.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, sanctions have been promulgated on the Russian people, which are considered binding. This includes the ban on Russian planes entering European airspace. Private flights are not exempt from the sanctions, they are also subject to these sanctions. Nevertheless, Russian planes are being sighted again and again, by the middle of last year there are said to be 30 planes.
Last Saturday, a previously inexplicable flight was also discovered. FAI Aviation's German Bombardier Challenger 604 travels to the city of Moscow, starting from the initial takeoff in Frankfurt. Shortly after the landing in the Russian capital is completed, the pilot of the Bombardier Challenger prepares for the return flight and flies back to Nuremberg's Albert Dürer Airport via Latvia and the Baltic Sea.
Since the aircraft in question with the registration D-AFAA is known to be an ambulance aircraft, a medical emergency is feared. It is unclear which patient is involved. However, the flight did not contradict any sanction and was therefore not considered illegal, as FAI Aviation describes in more detail. The patient's assumption falls on Putin's former childhood friend named Sergei Roldugin. However, the airline concerned denies this and makes it clear that none of the assumptions are true. However, due to data protection, no further details should be given.
