Innsbruck Airport is renovating the only runway. Therefore, the Tyrolean airport is closed for around four weeks. This measure was announced a long time ago.

Around 16,8 million euros are being invested in the renewal of the slope. This extensive renovation is not possible without a total closure. Therefore, excavators and asphalt paving machines will be rolling while air traffic will be idle up to and including October 18, 2021. Construction takes place every day from 6:00 a.m. to 22:00 p.m.

A total of 140.000 square meters will be renewed. 40.000 tons of pavement are milled off and new asphalt is then applied. The corresponding preparatory work has already been carried out since March 2021. The restart of Innsbruck Airport has been announced for October 19, 2021. The renovation project should be completely completed by the end of November 2021.
