Authorities in Fiji are investigating two incidents that occurred in Nadi on New Year's Day involving Virgin Australia crew members. One crew member was reportedly the victim of a sexual assault, while another was the victim of a theft. Both incidents are believed to have happened independently of each other.

Fiji's Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka expressed his regret over the events and confirmed that investigations are ongoing. A suspect is being investigated in the case of the alleged sexual assault. Virgin Australia has sent employees to Fiji to support the affected crew members. The airline did not provide any further information on the details of the incidents.

The incidents occurred during a stopover in the popular holiday destination, which has recently seen a significant increase in international visitors, particularly from Australia, New Zealand and North America.
