There is a change in management at Cologne / Bonn Airport, as managing director Johan Vanneste is leaving early at the end of the year at his own request. A successor has not yet been presented.

The manager asked the board of directors to release him from his contract. This would actually have run until April 2026. The control committee complied with Vanneste's request. He will leave Cologne / Bonn Airport on December 31, 2021.

“The Supervisory Board very much regrets this step by Mr. Vanneste, but has great understanding for his motives and wishes him all the best for his personal future. Johan Vanneste took over the airport at a difficult time and successfully guided it through the greatest crisis in air traffic. The Supervisory Board thanks Mr. Vanneste for the work he has done and is convinced that the trusting cooperation with the management will continue until the end of the year in a tried and tested manner, ”explains Supervisory Board Chairman Klaus-Dieter Scheuerle.

Johan Vanneste justified his decision to the Supervisory Board with changes in his personal family environment. After the end of his work at Cologne / Bonn Airport, he will no longer take on operational responsibility in another company. Until his departure, Johan Vanneste will manage the business of Flughafen Köln / Bonn GmbH together with the CFO Torsten Cabinet. The Supervisory Board has taken the necessary steps to find a successor as soon as possible.
