Apart from general aviation, it is currently pretty quiet at Klagenfurt Airport. The scheduled routes are in a kind of “permanent break”, which Austrian Airlines and Eurowings have repeatedly extended. The organizers are also still very cautious in the area of charter.

According to the airport, only two charters are currently registered. These are flights to Skiathos operated by Skyexpress. According to the current state of information, these should be carried out on Fridays between June and September 2021. Tour operator is Springer Reisen.

Hitreise (formerly: Gruber Reisen Kärnten) is launching a single charter to Funchal around Whitsun. This is carried out by the Czech Smartwings. It is an eight-day package tour. The outbound flight from Klagenfurt to Funachal is scheduled to take place on May 24, 2021. The return flight is registered for May 31, 2021.

It is still open whether there will be further summer charter. The organizers have also been cautious at other Austrian airports and have in some cases reduced the offer or not yet released it for sale. The background to the behavior is that the advance bookings for the summer of 2021 are considerably below the values that were “before Corona”. It is expected that many potential holidaymakers will wait until there is clarity about how tourist travel will be possible in summer 2021.
